Ramen Anyone?

We all love ramen. Everyone does! Is there anything more perfect than a big bowl of this exquisite steamy cuisine? How about sampling all types of ramen from local chefs and restaurants?

Denver has a huge variety of amazing ramen restaurants and we figured it's about time to gather our favorites and have ourselves a little Ramen Festival and decide who will wear the ramen crown!

Is your mouth ready to sample them all?

Did you know?

We all crave those tangled, soft and delicious noodles, the hot pork- or chicken-flavored broth made even better by a cold day, all the possible adornments: delicate sheet of nori, a proper dicing of scallions, snow peas, a modest serving of miso paste, maybe some bamboo shoots, certainly a poached or hard-boiled egg, and if your diet allows for it some rich pieces of pork belly. These bowls of noodles are beyond satisfying and fun to eat with each bite a combination of new textures and flavors, but did you know?

01.

The length of an instant ramen pack is a lot longer than you think!

If you were to unravel the noodles, they would stretch across 2 tennis courts and is longer than an olympic swimming pool!

02.

The first instant ramen was considered a luxury item.

Ramen wasn’t always cheap. In fact, when it was introduced to Japanese supermarkets in 1958, “Chicken Ramen” was 6 times the cost of fresh noodles.

03.

Ramen noodles were the first noodles eaten in space.

Japanese astronaut Soichi Noguchi feasted upon ramen while aboard the Discovery space shuttle.

04.

Slurping ramen is not a rude notion.

This is actually expected. To eat ramen quickly without burning yourself, slurp the noodles to cool them down before swallowing.

Let’s get ramen!
